Ask
the real fighters in the hobbies and professions, and they all think they’re
the best, and that there’s no real contest… Ask those anally
retentive, pretend fighters, and they‘ll think of a host of excuses
why steel and latex; fantasy and history, should never mix, and yet all
co-exist in perfect harmony in front of the camera. This tournament is
about elevating the hobbies, out perceived geekdom, onto a level playing
field of skill, which anyone, who has seen Ben-Hur, Lord of the Rings,
Gladiator or Troy, can appreciate.
If
you’re a real fighter, not a choreographed musketeer, an impervious,
dragon-scaled monster hunter, or a telegraph your blows, ham-it-up crowd
pleaser, then, this tournament is for you.
There
are 6 preliminary rounds at which you can enter, 3 for re-enactors,
3 for role-players and there are 4 weapons classes in which you can
fight in. These rounds will only be open to those actively participating
at the events, at which, they are being held.
The
weapons you will be fighting with are “real weight”, specially
commissioned, role-play weapons (ideal for safe free-form fighting,
in any environment) which will have been tested and vetted by members
of the HEMAC and the BFHS, as well as the MA and RoS. You’ll win
the weapon(s) you go on to fight with in the Grand Finals.
In the
Grand Finals, staged at Earl’s Court, you will be fighting against
each other, 1-on-1 in knockout single discipline competition, as well
as in a team, in a multidiscipline, 4-on-4, objective based, league.
