In competition
all blows are to be controlled, “pulled” or delivered past
the opponent. Refs will assess all entrants,
and finalists, on the safeness of their blows and the way
they conduct their fighting.
A gamberson and helmet
will be provided for use in the tournament, other armour is not necessary
but combatants may wish
to wear heavier clothing, padded vembraces, padded grieves,
knee and elbow protectors. Your style of clothing should be
in keeping with the event at which the tournament round
is taking place.
Hands
hits will not be allowed
Although hands will not be targeted, because of the weight of
the weapons, leather gloves are advised - thin driving gloves will
be sufficient, to ward off any sting, and give the best grip
Head
hits will be allowed
All combatants will wear the prescribed tournament helmet, or
their own, if refs deem suitable – without sharp edges or spikes.
